Bruna Dolan is an indie author from Brazil who has loved storytelling since childhood. Writing was once her safe place, but after years of having her perceptions and experiences dismissed, she slowly stepped away from it. Art, however, remained her refuge. It was where she felt understood and how she coped with everything she could not easily explain.
Living with Visual Snow Syndrome deeply shaped her life. For many years, her neurological symptoms had no name and little validation. It wasn’t until she found others who shared similar experiences that the loneliness began to ease. Seeing how many people with VSS still feel unseen and unheard, she knew she wanted to write a story that reflected that reality.

About the Book – She Saw the Wind
She Saw the Wind is Bruna’s debut novel. It is a historical fiction story with strong elements of coming-of-age and psychological drama. The book explores themes such as sensory processing, neurodivergence, grief, self-discovery, family relationships, and romance.
The story was inspired by Bruna’s own experience growing up with Visual Snow Syndrome. It explores what it feels like to live with sensory disturbances such as visual static, overload, fear, emotional isolation—without diagnosis or validation. Especially in past decades, when conditions like VSS were unknown and were often labeled as anxiety, imagination, or instability.
As a small tribute, she also named two characters Peter and Christopher after Dr. Peter Goadsby and Dr. Christoph Schankin, as a thank-you for their work and dedication to the VSS community.
Above all, She Saw the Wind is about finding beauty and meaning in a world that can feel overwhelming — and about how art, nature, and human connection can become forms of survival.
