In this series, Dr. Esther Han will provide insights into the origins and management of Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS), sharing her approach to patient care and the role of innovative therapies such as Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Therapy (NORT). She will discuss the impact of chromatic filters and FL-41 lenses, the potential benefits of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and the importance of lifestyle factors like nutrition and exercise in managing symptoms. Drawing from her extensive experience, Dr. Han will reflect on her most rewarding moments working with VSS patients and offer her vision for the future of research and treatment in this evolving field.

Dr. Han is a recognized authority in neuro-optometric rehabilitation with a specialization in treating VSS. She is an Associate Clinical Professor at the SUNY College of Optometry, where she mentors students and residents in vision rehabilitation and manages complex cases, including VSS. Recently, Dr. Han led the Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) Management Grand Rounds course, which examined diverse causes of VSS—such as viral infections, medication side effects, and acquired brain injuries—while reviewing case studies and management strategies to improve clinical outcomes. Her leadership in this course highlights her dedication to advancing VSS care and enhancing patient outcomes.

Dr. Han is a leading expert in neuro-optometric rehabilitation with a specific focus on VSS. Her expertise is recognized internationally, with invited lectures in China and Italy focusing on acquired brain injuries and vision therapy. Additionally, she has presented at notable institutions such as the Northwell Transitions of Long Island Annual Symposium, Burke Rehabilitation Center, and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
