The Visual Snow Initiative (VSI) is proud to share that Dr. Francesca Puledda, Senior Clinical Research Fellow and neurologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has been awarded the Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinician Scientist Fellowship. The MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship is one of the most respected and competitive awards in medical research, recognizing exceptional researchers who are shaping the future of medicine.
This prestigious five-year fellowship will enable Dr. Puledda to advance her groundbreaking research into Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS)—a complex neurological condition that causes individuals to see constant static or “snow” across their field of vision 24/7, along with other visual and non-visual symptoms. Her work aims to deepen understanding of the brain mechanisms involved in VSS and support the development of more effective treatments and improved patient outcomes.
Research Funded by the Visual Snow Initiative
The Visual Snow Initiative directly supported Dr. Puledda’s pioneering research, providing early and ongoing funding that allowed her to investigate the underlying mechanisms of VSS through advanced brain imaging and neurophysiological studies. Today, her findings have become one of the most significant and frequently referenced in the field.
This recognition highlights the global impact of VSI’s mission: empowering dedicated researchers like Dr. Puledda to pursue innovative research that brings the medical community closer to understanding, treating and potentially curing Visual Snow Syndrome.

Why This Matters
This fellowship represents a major milestone for the Visual Snow community and validates years of dedicated work by VSI and its collaborators. It demonstrates how philanthropic support, patient advocacy and scientific research can unite to create measurable progress for individuals affected by Visual Snow Syndrome.
As Dr. Puledda continues her groundbreaking studies using 7-Tesla Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and other advanced neuroimaging technologies, VSI remains deeply committed to funding research, raising awareness and supporting patients worldwide.
Acknowledgment and Gratitude
Both Dr. Puledda and King’s College London have expressed their gratitude to Sierra Domb, Founder of the Visual Snow Initiative, and to all VSI supporters whose dedication has made this achievement possible. Through their generosity and continued support, awareness has grown into remarkable scientific progress.
