Three weeks ago, I picked up my phone and realized something was wrong with my eyes. I could see the text, but it didn’t look the way it used to. Soon after, I noticed that everything around me started to appear differently. At first, I thought it might be a complication from my previous laser surgery. When I had my eyesight checked, the doctor told me I had astigmatism. But I had been living with astigmatism for many years without any issues. Despite this, I decided to order glasses, but when I put them on, I realized that nothing had changed. Then I started to study the visual disturbances I was experiencing. Every time I tried to explain what I was seeing to my husband, friends, and doctors, they looked at me like I was crazy. I spent entire days crying, unable to understand what was happening to me. Then one day, I decided to type just two words into a Google search: “noise in the eyes.” Fortunately, it only took me three weeks to discover that I have Visual Snow Syndrome. I’m relieved to know that I’m not alone and that I’m neither going blind nor losing my mind.
