Meet our awesome #WarriorOfTheWeek, Adam, and hear his inspiring #VSS story. ??

Spotlight on: Adam Wilson ? @adamreidwilsonco

“My name is Adam Wilson. I am 34 years old, and I live in the Charlotte, NC area. I developed VSS the day after Father’s Day in 2018. When I first developed it, I had no idea what was happening – I felt like I was living in someone else’s body. I started experiencing static, floaters, tinnitus, migraines, streaking, dizziness, fatigue, migraines, and light and motion sensitivity. The next year was one of the hardest of my life. Thankfully, I made some friends online named Charles and Jay, who had also developed VSS around the same time as me, and we started having a weekly Skype call. These guys were honest about their situation and how difficult it was, but they were also positive and solution-oriented. I don’t know what I would have done without them. With their support and the support of my beautiful wife Rachael, things slowly started to improve. One of my biggest fears was that I would never be able to be successful professionally because of my visual and physical symptoms. But through hard work, therapy, supportive family and friends, and medication, I overcame that fear and pushed forward. I currently own a music school that employs 19 people and offers weekly music lessons to over 250 students! Running my school has been harder with my symptoms, but it’s been possible. And not only has it been possible, but I’ve also managed to thrive. Dealing with VSS can be really hard. Sometimes, it still feels overwhelming, but I know I have the strength to overcome the challenges it presents, and so do you! VSS is not a death sentence, and it doesn’t have to ruin your life. I can honestly say that I went from being incredibly anxious and depressed to being excited to wake up in the morning. If you are struggling right now, know that things can and will get better, and if you ever need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out to me! You’ve got this!”
